The sheep disaster of December 2024 part 2/2

I was able to get the animals back where they belong. I put up a wire to keep the animals from coming back. In order to go back they would have to go around a long lane. Since the gate was open, they were all interested in the gate and so none of the animals wanted to poke around the lane. Once the animals were all through, I sealed up the lane with temporary fencing.

I couldn't get the gate back on the hinges all the way.

The lamb was born, no problems. Five minutes later, the lamb was walking around and nursing.

After about 30 more minutes of waiting, I got impatient and I moved the lamb into the right area. The mama got confused and it took a while to get them back together again. I made sure that the lamb could suck on the mama before leaving around sunset. The lamb was still wet. I hope he dries out because it is going to get near freezing tonight.

All of this was completely preventable if I had just remembered to put some temporary wires up in front of the gate to the back 20.
