Both roman Reigns appears set to feud with Rusev for WWE's United States {Tournament|Shining} based on their {conversation|connection|discussion} on this week's {Mon|Wednesday|Friday} Night Raw, {a reservation|an arranging|a scheduling} decision that some are viewing as a demotion for Reigns.
But is it {a real|a legitimate|good} demotion or a brilliant move that will save Reigns' {profession|job}?
At least on {the top|the area|the}, it's easy to see why fans would see Reigns going after {the united states|the|america} title as the {comparative|equal|comparable} to MLB's Yasiel Puig being sent down to the minor leagues. {Seeing that|As} Reigns {is a|has become a|is a huge} mainstay in {the key} event picture for well over 12 {weeks|a few months|several weeks}, anything less than a World title feud will be a major disappointment for any member of the Roman Empire.
Feuding with Rusev, however, {isn't very|basically|just isn't} a downgrade for Dominates because the United {Says|Claims|Areas} Champion has one {differentiating|unique|specific} characteristic that none of Reigns' recent rivals {experienced|got|acquired}: He's a full-blown heel.
Beyond the simple {truth|reality|simple fact} that Reigns has recently been force-fed to the WWE audience no matter how hard the fans {test their limits|break the rules}, what's hampered Reigns in the quest to {earn|succeed|get} over the fans as a babyface is the fact that he's, well, never truly been the clearcut face in any of his biggest rivalries. His most recent feuds have been with AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose (who were both {out-and-out|full-on} faces at the time) as well as {Multiple|Double|Three times the} H and Seth Rollins, who, despite technically being the heels, were simply the faces {whenever|each and every time} they interacted with Reigns.
The fact that Reigns was constantly feuding with {megastars|celebrities|high flyers} who received far more vocal support than this individual did, {whatever} role they were in, destroyed any chances of Reigns being the No. 1 {lover|enthusiast|supporter} favorite that Vince McMahon so desperately wanted him to be.
That's why Rusev is the perfect opponent to help Dominates finally {make an impression on|conquer} the WWE fans {that have|who may have|with} not {backed|reinforced|recognized} him up to this point.
When Reigns was paired against the {loves|wants|desires} of Styles and Ambrose, a pair of WWE's most popular babyfaces, the creative team did him absolutely no favors. {In fact|Truly|Basically} quite the opposite is true because Styles, a new addition to WWE, and Ambrose, the {best example|perfect example|ultimate example} of {exactly what a|exactly what an university|how} genuine babyface should be, were never going to be booed by the masses while feuding with Reigns. Chant for Triple H (he always acts like a face these days even though he's a heel) and Rollins, who is fresh off {a personal injury|an accident} that could have ended his career and earned him a ton of {value|admiration|esteem} as a result.
{Yet|Nevertheless|Although} Rusev? He's a heel through and through. {He is|Your dog is|She has} not in the {information|reports|media} cutting jokes every week. He doesn't have a move set that makes him come across {just like a|such as a} babyface. He doesn't {giggle|chuckle|have a good laugh}, joke or smile. This individual wants to get booed, and he plays {the simplest|the best|the perfect} role to boo as well, that of the "evil foreigner. "
In other words, Rusev is {just what} Reigns {must|has to|should} help him turn around the corner that {he could not|he didn't want to|he could hardly} turn during any of his other major feuds in 2016. No, {it can|is actually|really} not automatically a limit just because Reigns {isn't very|basically|just isn't} challenging for {a global|a new} {name|subject} and no longer has a stranglehold on {the key} event scene.
It's easy to {view it|find it|notice it} that way, though if anyone appears a little harder, Dominates {versus|or} Rusev is perhaps the best thing that might happen to Dominates {not merely|not simply} right now but for his long-term flight as a top {celebrity|superstar|legend}, too.
