The Horror at Highrook is a card-crafting RPG set in a spooky house where the owners have mysteriously vanished, and it's our job to find out what happened!

We control a team of occult investigators, each with their own strengths. There's a brainy one, a good-with-machines one, a strong one and a doctory one!

The rooms of the house are presented on a board, a bit like Cluedo, and we can move our people between the rooms at will to interact with them. There are also many items that we can use that work in conjunction with specific rooms. For example we can read mysterious tomes in the study and we can use our binoculars on the cliffside path.

As we combine people and items we uncover various new things, such as new items, documents, secrets, bonuses or abilities. This then allows us to craft even more items and things to help us along!

As we investigate we uncover more about what happened in the house as secret after secret are revealed, and it's all very dark and sinister indeed...

Oh and there's a cat. And the ghost of a boy. And tea. So mixed emotions.

Is it for me?
The Horror at Highrook is an unusual game with some unique mechanics. There is a wealth of story, character and challenge hidden in the halls. There is a lot of text in the game and no voice acting (I couldn't afford it!) and that might put some people off, I understand. However, If you enjoy evocative writing, unpacking mysteries, and are wiling to experiment with a different type of game, then I think you will enjoy the journey!
