Easy Step-by-Step Augmented Reality App Tutorial

Описание к видео Easy Step-by-Step Augmented Reality App Tutorial

** I know this is a long video, but I promise its worth it! ** In today’s augmented reality tutorial we will go through every single step in making a working augmented reality app prototype including mistakes (part 4 of the series of Unity Game Development)! We will go from concept, to code, to taking simple shapes and molding them into a deployable app we will test on the phone. We will go through some best practices when starting a new project, how to use AR foundation and ARkit (or ARcore), different approaches to solving touchscreen issues, easy built-in Unity functions to speed up workflow, using simple shapes as placeholders, and building the app with Xcode to your mobile phone/iphone/android and testing it. What better way to learn than to follow what I do in real time? In the previous videos we learned how to ensure version control across all the programs we need to create this XR app (Xcode, Visual Studio, Unity, Blender, iOS and MacOS) and how to approach the design for any app. Now, we will use simple 3d objects (cubes) to create the prototype code that we need before introducing our character models. When we start a new mixed reality project we don’t want to try to do everything at once (it’s mostly inefficient). So, in this video we create a prototype: basically a skeleton of the code we will need along with the use of dummy models. Think of this as the MVP: the minimal viable product, in other words a working AR game that has all the minimum necessary features to work. Learning how to make AR apps like this will be super important to become a contributor of the metaverse (whether with Meta/Facebook's or elsewhere). So start now!

Although this tutorial focuses on iphones, the same exact process works with android -- the only difference is the step at the end in which we use Xcode to build to the iphone. If people are interested, I can also make one that teaches how to build to android (very similar process!)

Long videos like this are a pain to edit -- but worth it!! I hope this is useful and comprehensive enough.

Any feedback on how to make these better is welcome!!!
