The early 2000's were a period of renaissance for Jaeger-LeCoultre sports watches. After a hiatus of nearly two decades, JLC resumed manufacture of sports models with the debut of the now classic Master Compressor line.

This Master Compressor Geographic combines the innovative one-twist "Compressor" water-resistant crowns with a traditional JLC complication, the Geographic dual-time system. Add styling inspired by the legendary 1968 Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris diver, and the result is a watch that is gaining a reputation as collectible in its own right.

The JLC "Geographic" function allows two types of dual-time configuration. First, it can be used as a conventional twin time zone watch. The small dial at seven o'clock can be set independently of the center hands' "local" time zone. This second time zone includes an AM/PM indicator for extra clarity.

The second function of the dual-time system is Jaeger-LeCoultre's famous "Geographic" complication. By synchronizing both time zones with the "Geographic" city ring indicating the user's current time zone (represented by a city on the ring), it is possible to adjust the reference city for instant indication of the present time (and AM/PM status) in that city. Adjusting the city reference ring alters the time on the small dial at seven.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Geographic's "Compressor" crowns embody an original JLC watchmaking innovation. With a single half-twist, each crown unlocks completely for winding, setting, and hacking of the movement. Only Panerai's crown guard even comes close to the ease of use and intuitive operation of this system. To sweeten the bargain, JLC color codes both sides of the compressor crowns to indicate when they are open and closed. Remember; Red means you're Dead, White means they're tight.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre caliber 923 in-house movement provides accurate and durable timings. As with all JLC movements, the 31-jewel Cal. 923 in the Master Compressor Geographic has passed the 42-day "1,000 Hours Control," a comprehensive reliability and accuracy trial of the fully cased watch.
