Short, medium and long-term corruption trends for Central American countries are presented in this video using scores published by Transparency International in their Corruption Perceptions Index 2023 (CPI2023) report. The analysis demonstrates country performance across Central America in the periods 2012-2023, 2018-2023 and 2022-2023.

The Central American region recorded the second worst regional performance in the CPI 2023 with the region’s average country CPI score declining by 15.35% compared with the 0.42% decline in the global average CPI score.

The region’s average country CPI score has declined steadily since 2014 with the decline interrupted in a very minor manner in 2020.

The rate of decline in the region’s average country CPI score consistently exceeded the rate of decline in global average CPI scores in 2012-2023, 2018-2023 and 2022-2023. #corruption #centralamerica #corruptionperceptionsindex2023
