Backpacking the Black Forest Trail, Pennsylvania

The Black Forest Trail is one of the hardest trails in PA. Scenic views and overlooks of Pine Creek, plenty of water and great campsites. This place is pretty darn good for Pennsylvania. For beginners give yourself 4 days to complete it and go clockwise. It can easily be done in 3 full days. It's rough in 2 days but obviously we were able to do it. This trail also connects to the West Rim and Susquahannock Trail Systems if you really want to make a huge trip out of it.

Parking Lot: 41.525296, -77.598465 Pretty big lot, don't block the driveway of the building up 100 feet.

Day 1: 23.7 Stayed next to Little Slate Run. There is a giant campsite at the fork at the bottom of the hill if that site is taken go up about 200 feet and there another site.

Day 2: 18.6 miles
Go get a burger at the Black Forest Inn. Great service. Reasonable prices. The special of the day was a 1/2lb burger and fries for $8.99. I recommend the Black Forest Burger.
