Maggie Gremela’s Kroj are legendary not only in and around Texas, but throughout Czech communities in the US. She’s an expert and has researched ornate folkloric Czech dance costumes. Her creations are inspired by traditional Kroj, but as Maggie says, they’ve been “Americanized” to make caring for them easier and she uses fabrics that are more Texas friendly then the heavy handwoven and richly embroidered cloth. The puffy sleeves have details such as embroidery and eyelet ruffles for the cuffs.
