Описание к видео Tensions Rise! USS Abraham Lincoln Departs to Conduct Operations in the Middle East

The U.S. Navy’s aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln has departed the western Pacific and is transiting toward the Indian Ocean, fueling speculation of a possible redeployment to the Middle East amid rising tensions with Iran.

Ship-tracking data from MarineTraffic shows the carrier sailing northwest through the Strait of Malacca, reaching waters near the eastern Indian Ocean north of Indonesia’s Sumatra Island on Tuesday. Open-source reports indicate the carrier is accompanied by the guided-missile destroyers USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. (DDG-121), USS Spruance (DDG-111), and USS Michael Murphy (DDG-112).

The movement comes as the United States has issued repeated warnings of potential military action against Iran if violence linked to nationwide protests does not subside. With the departure of the USS Abraham Lincoln, the USS George Washington, homeported in Japan since November 2024, is now the only U.S. aircraft carrier remaining in the western Pacific.

According to U.S. Naval Institute News and official Navy imagery, the U.S. Navy has also increased its surface presence in the Middle East. At least three destroyers are currently operating in the region: USS Roosevelt in the Red Sea, USS Mitscher in the Gulf of Oman, and USS McFaul in the Persian Gulf.

The redeployment coincides with intensifying unrest inside Iran and a sharp escalation in rhetoric from Iranian officials. On Tuesday, Iran’s judiciary chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei announced that authorities are seizing the assets of individuals accused of supporting protesters, saying the funds would be used to cover damages caused during the unrest.

Mohseni-Ejei also vowed to prosecute those he described as rioters and their supporters, including foreign governments. In a post on X, he said Iran would pursue accountability through domestic courts and international channels, naming the U.S. president and what he called the “ringleaders of the accursed Zionist regime” among those he accused of backing the unrest through arms and propaganda.

On Saturday, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei acknowledged that “several thousands” had been killed during the protests, while maintaining that the deaths were caused by agents linked to foreign powers rather than Iranian state forces.

Independent groups have reported significantly higher casualty figures. The U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency said that as of the 24th day of protests, at least 4,519 deaths had been confirmed, with 9,049 additional cases under review, 5,811 people seriously injured, and 26,314 arrests recorded.

The Sunday Times, citing a separate compilation by doctors inside Iran, reported even higher estimates, suggesting that at least 16,500 protesters have been killed and approximately 330,000 injured during the unrest.

As tensions continue to rise both inside Iran and across the region, the movement of U.S. naval forces is being closely watched by analysts as a potential signal of Washington’s readiness to respond to further escalation in the Middle East
