What started as a simple oil change on my 2018 Harley-Davidson Heritage 114 turned into a bigger issue I was not expecting. In my last video I compared Motul oil to Harley-Davidson’s branded fluids and explained why I believe Motul offers better value and proven performance. But in the middle of filming that oil change I found metal chunks in my transmission pan, something serious enough that I called up John Maxwell for advice. That discovery pushed me to look deeper into what was going on inside my Harley’s transmission and to invest in a better way to monitor the health of my bike.

In this video I install the Figurati Designs Magnetic Dipsticks on both the engine oil and transmission to see what they would catch after a full double flush of the transmission with Motul. Even after flushing it twice, the magnets still pulled out shavings and fragments that do not belong in a healthy transmission.
