The Air That I Breathe - The Hollies (1974) Remastered FLAC

"The Air That I Breathe" was released on The Hollies' 14th studio album, The Hollies, in March of 1974.

What is there to say about this song, really? It's an absolute perfect piece of pop/rock... a transcendentally glorious melody wrapped in masterful production of strings and horns....and the guitar is just the cherry on top of it all! This song is amazing in that it never loses one iota of it's power, even if you hear it a thousand times...for me at least, every single time is a slightly dizzying experience....it's one of the greatest songs ever written. Allmusic calls it "arguably pop's greatest ballad."....hard to disagree.

And yeah....the first time I heard Radiohead's "Creep" i thought of this song! ***From Wiki for those unaware of the reference: Due to similarities to "The Air That I Breathe", a song recorded by the Hollies in 1973, Radiohead was successfully sued for plagiarism. Consequently, Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood are credited as co-writers of "Creep". "Creep" uses a chord progression used in "The Air That I Breathe" in its verse and a melody from "The Air That I Breathe" in the bridge following the second chorus.***End Wiki.

I wanted to update the frequently posted promotional video of the band performing the track to try and add something interesting to it....but mainly I wanted to use the best quality audio version of the track that I could find (the versions of the video using the original audio sound godawful).

Few songs are as special to me as this one (and another one that I'm finishing up! ;-)....and I know it is for so many others as well....thank you so much for watching, I hope you enjoy the effort.
