This means that the space between galaxies is stretching faster than the speed of light, and some galaxies are moving away from us so fast that their light will never reach us. This creates a cosmic horizon, beyond which we cannot see anything. The cosmic horizon limits the amount of light that we can receive from the universe, and it makes space appear dark.
