Custom Bumper with Swing-Away Bike Rack for Adventure Van -- New design for our new van!

A tour of our custom bumper with swing-away hitch receiver for the 6-bike Recon Racks upright bike rack. We had this bumper custom built so we can swing our bikes out of the way and get to our dirt bikes without removing the bikes. An important part of our adventure van!

We had a similar rack on our previous van (   • Custom Swinging Hitch for Bike Rack  ) and really liked it, but wanted to make some improvements so when we got our new Ford E-350 we decided to start from scratch and totally redesign it using a trailer spindle so it would be easier to swing.

We were lucky enough to get connected with a friend of a friend, Charlie, who welds bicycles and his friend, Dave, has quite a bit of experience with welding bumpers and hitch receivers and was willing to build the bumper for us. The two of them worked together and it was really cool to watch what they did. And definitely a bonus that Dave had a CNC plasma cutter so we could cut ADVENTR into the bumper!
