Meet Deffie: my custom AI dictionary built with Gemini 3 in Google AI Studio.

As a Japanese learner frustrated with existing dictionary apps, I decided to create something better.

What makes Deffie different:
Unlike traditional dictionaries, Deffie generates AI-powered definitions with cultural context (I call it "vibe check"), natural text-to-speech pronunciation, and — my favorite part — AI-generated images for words that are easier to understand visually (like vegetables, objects, or places).

It also handles things traditional dictionaries simply can't: proper nouns like celebrity names, company names, and idioms with helpful visual memory aids.

Built-in learning features:
Save words to your vocabulary notebook, then use "Spin a Yarn" — a feature that creates ridiculous (but memorable!) stories using all your saved words.

There's also automatic flashcard generation with images on the front and definitions on the back for quick review sessions.
