🧭 Setting & Plot (What We Know)

The story is set in 300 CE, during the Kadamba dynasty in Banavasi (in the coastal Karnataka / forest region).

It explores the mythological origins and ancestral conflict tied to the practices of Bhuta Kola and divine guardianship of land, particularly focusing on entities like Panjurli Daiva and Guliga Daiva.

Rishab Shetty plays a central character, a Naga Sadhu (a warrior‐mystic) who has superhuman powers, and is meant to be a bridge between humans and divine forces.

Themes: spirituality, mysticism, nature vs humans, divine rituals, the origin of the spiritual practices seen in the original Kantara.

🎬 Production Highlights

Filming started in November 2023 and wrapped up (principal photography) around 7 July 2025.

There is a large war sequence (500 skilled fighters + about 3,000 junior artists) shot on a huge set (25 acres) over many days, with elaborate choreography.

Rukmini Vasanth is playing the female lead, named Kanakavathi.
