Seen here is a brand new Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) emergency ambulance (unit no. 113) on the scene of a medical call at Lucky Plaza on Orchard Road, and later responding with lights and siren, most likely transporting a patient to hospital. This ambulance is one of a fleet of new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter ambulances which have just recently been introduced by the Civil Defence and feature a number of highly advanced upgrades over previous ambulance models.
This vehicle is often referred to as the 'Rumbler ambulance' since it is one of the first emergency vehicles in Asia to feature a so-called 'Rumbler' siren, which releases a low-frequency tone together with the regular siren and can be heard as well as felt. It is especially useful in high-noise environments such as cities with dense traffic. Please note that the 'Rumbler' function of the siren was not used in this video.
