Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is an analytical technique that uses no chemicals, gives accurate and precise results in minutes or even continuously, and is simple to install and safe to use. The training covers the essential features for successful NIRS application in a practical and easily understandable format. The emphasis of this training is to understand NIRS instruments and how to get the best out of them, the importance of precision and how to determine that, the set-up and procedures for calibration and interpretation of the output of the instrument, including the results of calibration and factors that affect them and explanation of the relevant statistics. Training on chemometrics will include pre-processing of the spectral data, calibration model development and validation, interpretation of the models as well as classification and multivariate curve resolution (MCR).
