On Sunday, June 8, 2025, at approximately 9:09 PM, Arkansas State Police Trooper Richard Surrette was monitoring traffic on I-49 northbound near mile marker 88 in Bentonville when a motorcycle caught his attention. The rider was clocked at 85 MPH in a 70 MPH zone and had no visible license plate.

When Trooper Surrette activated his emergency lights to conduct a stop, the rider accelerated hard — quickly reaching 130 MPH while weaving through traffic. The motorcycle used both shoulders of the interstate to pass vehicles, creating dangerous conditions for everyone nearby.

The situation escalated rapidly as the motorcycle began losing control, making risky lane changes and overtaking multiple cars. As traffic thickened, the rider lost control and made contact with another vehicle before veering into a ditch beside the road.
