Advance medical directives are forms in which an individual can use to instruct their friends, their family, their healthcare providers on the treatment they'd like to receive should they be unable to communicate those decisions themselves. A living will is considered an advance directive. A living will is a document which allows you to instruct your healthcare providers on whether you would like your life to be artificially prolonged through the use of tubes and machines if your attending physician certifies that you have an incurable injury, disease or illness.
