This video documents my Max% completion of Celeste.
This description will assume only base-level familiarity with Celeste.

I first started playing this game in 2020, but started taking it more seriously via mods (custom content made by the community, not the developers) in 2023. This project only started gaining headway in July 2025, and was completed in February 2026.

For the purposes of this video, "Max%" is defined as doing all in-game accomplishments which leave a long-standing mark on either your in-game save file or external (Steam or console) achievements. I did so without using Assist Mode or Cheat Mode. Other self-imposed challenges are not required for Max% completion.

Maps in this game, for the most part, come in three distinct "sides". A-Sides are essentially the "main story" portion of the game; B-Sides, unlocked after collecting a cassette tape in the corresponding A-Side, are more challenging; and C-Sides, unlocked after completing every B-Side, are even trickier but are roughly three rooms long each. There is also a map known as Farewell, which is unlocked after finishing the final A-Side map, which doesn't have a B- or C-Side due to its difficulty and length. This video will show this completion in two portions, with an intermission in between. Almost all deaths and all non-gameplay sections were edited out for brevity's sake.

The first portion is Full Clearing every A-Side map, as done as part of a livestream in April 2025. A Full Clear (FC) is defined as collecting every collectable in a single clear of a map. In A-Sides, the collectables include an aforementioned cassette tape, a crystal heart, and some number of strawberries. Collectables mentioned later on are not required for an FC. An FC is indicated by a gold flag in the Journal (the way you access basic statistics). Note this is slightly different than how it's shown in the video, as the game will not count an FC if you collect all collectables across different runs of the map. The reason this isn't how it's shown is due to community consensus' looser FC requirements, which do allow collecting everything across different runs as valid. This 'looser' FC is done twice: once in Old Site, because I restart the level after collecting the crystal heart, and again in Summit because I missed a strawberry. For brevity, Reflection will only show the start of the map during this portion, where the two collectables are obtained. In addition, Farewell also has a collectable "moon berry", found via a secret route at the end of the map. For brevity, only this secret route is shown during this portion.

The intermission showcases the two accomplishments which only unlock external achievements. Both were recleared and recorded specifically for this video. The first is "Real Gamer": in the middle of Celestial Resort, a computer can be found to play the original version of Celeste made for the PICO-8 fantasy console. Completing this will unlock the achievement. I'm unsure whether "completing" in this context means you need to Full Clear PICO-8, but that's how I decided to do this in the video. The second is "1UP!": collecting strawberries in this game doesn't happen instantaneously, and can only happen on "safe ground". If you staying off of safe ground for long enough, then collect six berries in quick succession, a "1UP" eventually appears.

In the second portion, I collect all of this game's final type of collectable, golden strawberries, which are unlocked alongside the C-Sides. This portion will include both reclears for this video and original clear recordings. To collect a golden, you need to clear the map without dying. Failure to do so will kick you back to the beginning of the map. Before I collect the bulk of the goldens, I collect a special "winged golden" in Forsaken City A-Side, which you collect by clearing the map without dashing, this one does not need to be done without dying. I do all A-, B-, and C-Sides in standard order, then Farewell. Needless to say these can get quite challenging, with Farewell golden in particular being incredibly difficult.
