Do you know how fantasy book cover designs are born? 🔥

Today we want to show you how we created a light and tender book cover for Anita Cross' fantasy book Kings & Khans 🤩

✨ As always, we started with the main character. We planned to design a classic image of the fairy: fair-haired, in a nice dress, and with gentle butterfly wings. We combined several elements from different images to get the right final result. The most complicated part was retouching the image and ensuring that all elements, including the dress and its pattern, the colors, and the girl's hands, body, and hair all fit together and look natural.
✨ Next, we moved on to designing the background. To create the right dreamy and fantasy mood, we created an image of the castle in the sky. We picked a deep blue background color, added images of clouds and an old Medieval castle, and slightly retouched them all together.
✨ Then it was time for the details. We added dragons to the background, a book and tender and delicate wings to the fairy in the center, and elegant golden decorations to frame the cover.
✨ Finally, we retouched the whole image to ensure it has a single soft color palette, added more light and shadows to make the cover more contrasting and add volume to the picture, and placed a few bright accents to attract the readers' gaze and communicate the special magical atmosphere of the book 🙌
