Indira Col is the northernmost point of India. It was named after Goddess Lakshmi by Bulk Workman in 1912. In winters, the average snowfall here is more than 35 feet and the temperature drops to -50 degrees Celsius. The distance of Indira Col from Kanyakumari, the southernmost point of India on the mainland, is 3,065 kilometres. Both India and Pakistan claim the southern part of Indira Col, but India has control over this area.
