The only four surviving sketchbooks of Vincent van Gogh are held by the Van Gogh Museum but because of their fragility they will no longer be on public display.

To allow the public to access these four unique sketchbooks, which were in use between 1884 and 1890, together with three notebooks, several loose sketches and a letter, the museum has commissioned Uitgeverij Komma to produce a limited facsimile edition.

The facsimiles, each in separate felt-lined drawers, come in a walnut presentation box which opens on all four sides at the same time. On top of the box is a special edition on the work and the period in which the sketchbooks were used. Further, a walnut frame pulls out from underneath the box for the loose sketches.
