Rigging up for Halibut: Best Ways to Fish a Live Bait

The early ‘23 season was all about the incredible halibut fishing happening up and down the coast, and so we brought in BDOutdoors Pro Contributor Nate Winicki to go over his favorite live bait rig to use both inshore and out at the islands to specifically target these tricky gamefish. This is a take on your classic halibut trap rig with some newer additions to help you quickly adjust to depth and current, keeping your line straight up and down. We also go over how to detect those subtle bites and what to do once you’re hooked up into a proper coastal rug.
