11 Similarities Between Wrath of Khan and Balance of Terror

Did The Wrath of Khan use the classic Star Trek episode "Balance of Terror"as a template? Here are 11 uncanny similarities between The Wrath of Khan and "Balance of Terror" that suggest just that.

There are also some similar lines of dialog between The Wrath of Khan and "Balance of Terror," including a peculiar use of the word “energize” in place of “activate” on the bridge. Outside of these two films, energize is only used in that context in the transporter room. Also, I find it interesting that the Romulan Commander and Khan both call Kirk “friend.”
