In this video I give an overview of the process to apply for Medical Residency or Authorisation in Denmark for non-europeans. This video is relevant for all Doctors, Dentists, Nurses, Chiropractors and Physical Therapists, who would like to come to Denmark and work.

In order to apply for a authorisation one has to go through 6 steps as mentioned below.


1. Education and Credential Validation
EPIC (Electronic Portfolio of International Credentilals)

Application and approval of qualifications (Credential Verification)
EPIC Account at the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG®)
Fill out application form at Danish Patient Safety Authority
Formal qualifications documents together with receipt of EPIC sent to Danish Patient Safety Authority.

2. Danish Exam Test

Language Test (Prøve i dansk 3 or Danish Exam 3), Minimum Score of 10,7,7



3. Medical Test

To Register authorities must approve that you have passed Danish Exam
Theory and oral exam (twice a year )

4. Courses in Danish Health legislation

To Register authorities must approve that you have passed Danish Exam

3 day course + 3 modules of group teaching & group work

Written exam at the end.

Held 4-5 times a year

5. Employment for adaptation and training purposes (Evalueringsansættelse)

The duration depends on whether you hold specialist qualifications or not.

Must take it no later than 12 month after Medical Test & Legislation course

You have to find a vacant position yourself

6. Permission to work independently

You can apply for Danish authorisation and permission to work independently as a medical doctor during the last month of your employment
