This is a story about a unicorn named Lucky who has a male calico cat named Jynxx who has Klinefelter syndrome. In the video I give a more in depth commentary on each page of the book. First watch the video and then go back and read the story.

The narrative is appropriate for an entry level college biology course while the actual story is appropriate for children.

Klinefelter syndrome results from a genetic abnormality in which males have an extra copy of the X chromosome. Females can not have Klinefelter syndrome. The female version of Klinefelter syndrome is Turner Syndrome where an X chromosome is missing because of non disjunction during meiosis I or II. A male conceived due to non-disjunction results in Klinefelter syndrome (XXY) and a female results in Turner Syndrome (X).

Barr Body: a small, densely staining structure in the cell nuclei of female mammals, consisting of a condensed, inactive X chromosome. It is regarded as diagnostic of genetic femaleness.

Lyonization: (also called X-inactivation) refers to the normal phenomenon in which one of the two X chromosomes in every cell of a female individual is inactivated during embryonic development.

Non-disjunction: the failure of one or more pairs of homologous chromosomes or sister chromatids to separate normally during nuclear division, usually resulting in an abnormal distribution of chromosomes in the daughter nuclei.

Meiosis: type of cell division that results in four daughter cells each with half the number of chromosomes of the parent cell, as in the production of gametes.
