Within the context of crises and conflicts, the intersections of the fields of social cohesion and early childhood education can offer provocative entry points into discussions about social transformation, resilience, and the conditions for peace and stability to emerge and take root. These fields, which are mostly disconnected in theoretical development, institutional arrangements, and research, often come together in practice, but knowledge about what works and how it works is fragmented across sectors and geographies.

Together, the USAID Education in Crisis and Conflict Network and Sesame Workshop have convened a global learning cohort of researchers, practitioners and decision-makers actively working in the space of social cohesion and early childhood to survey and discuss the current state of evidence and practice, as well as the theories of change that underpin this work, with particular focus in countries experiencing crises and/or conflicts.
