US troops hold drills in Estonia

STORYLINE:
U.S. army soldiers conducted annual live fire exercises in front of Estonian and NATO security forces in Estonia on Thursday.

The drills were conducted near the town of Tapa in the north of the country.

The U.S. army said that its 1st Cavalry Division’s mission in Europe is to "engage in multinational training and exercises across the continent, working alongside NATO allies and regional security partners."

Separately, some 9,000 troops from 20 NATO countries have been participating this month in military exercises in the Baltic Sea region, which has become strategically sensitive following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
