In this video, I’m making two amazing Aromatherapy room sprays.

Both are made in bases of hydrosol. (A hydrosol is an aromatic water that’s produced during the process of essential oil distillation.) One room spray is made with Peppermint hydrosol, and the other room spray is made with Frankincense hydrosol.

First up is a bright, refreshing Peppermint hydrosol room spray! I’m making this blend in a 1 oz (30 ml) glass bottle.

At 0:45, I pour the Peppermint hydrosol into the bottle (Mentha x piperita). Then I add…

5 drops Lemon essential oil (Citrus limon) (1:11)
5 drops Sweet Orange essential oil (Citrus sinensis) (1:40)
5 drops Bergamot Mint essential oil (Mentha citrata) (1:58)

Are you familiar with Bergamot Mint? It’s different from true Bergamot. Bergamot Mint doesn’t come from a citrus, but from an herb! It has an herbal, minty aroma with hints of citrus laced in. It’s just right for this room spray that’s combining fresh Peppermint with the bright citruses Lemon and Orange.

Once my essential oils are all added, I shake the bottle (2:46) to distribute the oils and hydrosol. You’ll need to shake this blend every time you use it, since the oils and hydrosol (which is water-based) won’t automatically mix. If you prefer to use a solubol/dispersant in your spray, simply add 4 drops of solubol per 1 drop of essential oil.

For the second room spray, I’m using a base of Frankincense hydrosol. It has a different feeling than the first room spray—it’s more grounding, calming, and soothing.

I love Frankincense hydrosol (Boswellia carterii), and I bet you can tell…I have a lot of it! I’m using 1 oz (30 ml) in a glass jar as the base for this room spray. (3:52) Then I’m adding…

5 drops Frankincense essential oil (Boswellia carterii) (4:19)
5 drops Pinion Pine essential oil (Pinus edulis) (4:46)
5 drops distilled Lime essential oil (Citrus aurantifolia) (5:00)

The distilled Lime adds the perfect touch of citrus to this room spray! If you take a little time smelling Frankincense essential oil, you’ll notice a delicate hint of lemony citrus in its aroma, so the citrus of Lime complements it nicely. The Pinion Pine adds a beautiful, foresty touch.

I suggest making these room sprays fresh every few weeks, since they’re not made with preservatives.
