One of the most memorable days of not just last year but our lives was spent swimming with beautiful Hawksbill Turtles off the Gili Islands in Lombok. As well as spotting nearly a dozen of them in the warm tropical waters we were blessed to be able to swim so close we could almost touch these wondrous creatures.
The day was a dream come true for my wife, Tam, but for all of us it was nothing short of the kind of true magical experience you can only really find in Mother Nature.'
We started in Gili Trawangan and visited four dive sites - Shipwreck (01:50) , Statues(03:40), Turtle Point (08:04) and Garden of Fish (13:40) - and spent a little time on Gili Meno and Gili Air.
All the dive sites had their charms, but undoubtedly as you'll see , our 'up close and personal' experience at Turtle Point - where one turtle even head-butt our Go-Pro (09:04) - was definitely the highlight..
