特徵：
體長53~57公分。雄鳥虹膜紅色，嘴紅色，腳粉紅色。雌鳥虹膜紅褐色，嘴黑色，先端黃色，腳灰色。
雄鳥繁殖羽頭大且圓，橙紅色，背灰褐色，尾灰色，上下覆羽黑色。頸、胸、腰黑色，脇白色。非繁殖羽似雌鳥，但虹膜、嘴仍是紅色。
雌鳥頭頂、眼周、後枕、背深褐色，眼下、頰、喉、前頸白色，胸、腹灰褐色。
分布：
繁殖於東歐、中國之新疆和內蒙古、青海、四川、西藏、雲南等地；冬季遷徙至中東、南亞、印度、緬甸等地。在台灣為極度稀有迷鳥，僅1995年於宜蘭下埔、2018年於貢寮田寮洋溼地各有一次出現雌鳥記錄。

Feature:
Body length 53~57 cm. The male bird has red irises, red beak and pink feet. The female bird has reddish-brown iris, black beak, yellow tip, and gray feet.
The male's breeding plumage is large and round, orange-red, gray-brown back, gray tail, and black upper and lower coverts. The neck, chest and waist are black, and the flanks are white. The non-breeding plumage resembles that of the female bird, but the irises and bill are still red.
The top of the female bird's head, around the eyes, back pillow and back are dark brown, the under eyes, cheeks, throat and front neck are white, and the chest and belly are grayish brown.
Distributed:
Breeds in Eastern Europe, Xinjiang of China, Inner Mongolia, Qinghai, Sichuan, Tibet, Yunnan and other places; migrates to the Middle East, South Asia, India, Myanmar and other places in winter. It is an extremely rare stray bird in Taiwan. There are only one record of a female bird appearing in Xiapu, Yilan, in 1995, and in Liaoyang Wetland, Gongliaotian, in 2018.
