Potato nuggets are small, bite-sized potato snacks that are usually crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They’re similar to tater tots but often shaped like small cubes or nuggets. They can be made by mashing or grating potatoes, mixing them with seasonings, sometimes adding cheese or other ingredients, shaping them into nuggets, and then frying or baking them.
You can find them frozen at grocery stores or make them from scratch. They’re great as a snack, side dish, or even an appetizer with dips like ketchup, cheese sauce, or ranch.
Main Ingredients:
2 medium potatoes (boiled & mashed)
¼ cup bread crumbs (plus extra for coating)
3 tbsp grated cheese (optional, for extra flavor)
4 tbsp corn flour
1 tsp black pepper powder
½ tsp Red chili(crushed)
½ tsp chaat masala
1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
Oil (for frying or baking)
For Slurry:
½ cup all-purpose flour/maida
2 tbsp of corn flour
¼ tsp of black pepper powder
¼ tsp salt
Instructions:
Prepare the dough:
Boil and mash the potatoes until smooth.
Add bread crumbs, corn flour, cheese (if using), black pepper, chili flakes or res chili crushed and salt. Mix well.
If the mixture is too dry, add a little milk. If too wet, add more bread crumbs.
Shape the nuggets:
Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into nuggets or small cubes.
Coat them in extra bread crumbs for crispiness.
Cooking options:
Deep Frying: Heat oil in a pan and fry the nuggets until golden brown.
Baking: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C), place nuggets on a greased baking sheet, spray with oil, and bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway.
Air Frying: Spray nuggets with oil and air fry at 375°F (190°C) for about 12-15 minutes.
Serve:
Enjoy hot with ketchup, cheese dip, or mayo!
