Article 22 explained

Article 22 of the Indian Constitution safeguards individual rights against arbitrary arrest and detention. It mandates that no person shall be arrested without being informed of the reasons for their arrest. If detained, the individual must be presented before a magistrate within 24 hours. The article also allows for preventive detention, but limits detention to three months without obtaining approval from an Advisory Board. Furthermore, the article ensures that individuals have the right to challenge their detention in court, thereby protecting personal liberty and preventing abuse of power by authorities. However, preventive detention laws can bypass these protections in certain cases.
