A Spokane woman is hoping to reconnect with the people who saved her life after a near-death experience at Bear Lake.

Karina Handl says a heroic act of kindness is something she'll never forget after a routine summer day at the lake went wrong.

"I'd say we come 3 to 4 times a week," said Handl, who says she was spending an afternoon on the water with her nephew and her dog, Scooby. "It was very windy and I was like 'ok, I'm going to get a good workout in, that's why I’m here.'"

But in the blink of an eye, family fun time turned into a fight for survival after Handl noticed Scooby got his paw stuck in his life jacket and started to sink.
