⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Retirement of San Francisco BART's Legacy Fleet

Описание к видео ⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Retirement of San Francisco BART's Legacy Fleet

On April 20th, 2024, San Francisco's BART system held a retirement ceremony for the last run of its legacy cars from the early 1970s. Built by the Rohr company, these cars were used to inaugurate the BART system in 1972. Widely seen as icons of 1970s industrial design, these cars faithfully served the San Francisco Bay Area for decades. While an operational set of these cars will unfortunately not be preserved for future use on the BART system (Unless BART management changes its mind!), three legacy fleet cars will be preserved for static display at the Western Railway Museum.

It is great to see BART follow in the footsteps of the New York City MTA and many other international transit systems by following international best practices and holding a proper retirement ceremony and final run for these iconic cars. The public goodwill and ridership generated by these sorts of events is quite a sight to see. Enjoy this look at a perfectly executed operation!
