Landsbergis warns that Trump’s “bizarre strategy” could leave Europe weaker, divided, and once again dependent on Russian energy, especially if countries like Hungary gain more influence.

He criticizes NATO’s muted reaction to Russia-linked sabotage, saying the Alliance “seems incapable of providing real answers,” and questions whether Secretary-General Mark Rutte has any Plan B beyond appeasing Trump.

Europe, he argues, cannot wait for a “Pearl Harbor moment” to take its own defense seriously. Poland, Lithuania, and the EU as a whole must develop a strategy that can deter Russia independently and support Ukraine without relying on uncertain U.S. guarantees.
