Al Jefferson: The FIRST AND ONLY All-NBA player in Charlotte Bobcats History | FPP

Описание к видео Al Jefferson: The FIRST AND ONLY All-NBA player in Charlotte Bobcats History | FPP

He was a throwback to the old school low post style of play that defined the NBA in throughout the 20th century, his low post game had no holes and he quietly became one of the league’s top offensive players during the 2010s. He began his career on the Paul Pierce led Boston Celtics as a player taken straight out of high school, but after a few years he was on the many players the Celtics gave away during the summer they acquired both Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett. But Jefferson excelled with the Minnesota Timberwolves where he played alongside a young Kevin Love, then became the best player for the Utah Jazz after they traded away Deron Williams, he would then find himself on the last year of the Charlotte Bobcats where he would earn his first and only All-NBA Selection after being one of the top big men in the league for a decade, and after he declined and Kemba Walker became the Charlotte Hornets leader, his career came to an end pretty quickly. But Al Jefferson is a player who had a playstyle suited for one era, while the NBA was transitioning to a new era which is the one we know today that’s predicated by three pointers and transition offense which sees players like Steph Curry, Damian Lillard and James Harden excel. As refined as Jefferson’s post play was, it was becoming obsolete when he was at his peak and he didn’t help his case to stick around by being one of the worst defensive players in the league. But the argument can definitely be made that Al Jefferson was snubbed more than once for an All-Star team as he was never once voted by the fans, but it’s sadly to be expected as he played in small markets and in losing situations most of his career, his game was efficient, but it wasn’t flashy and he was a quiet player who stayed out of the media spotlight. But at the end of the day, Al Jefferson will always be looked as one of the last great low post big men who have all but become extinct in the NBA.
