There are lot of stigma attached with this name that asthma is something deadly. Asthma is not a disease it is a reactive airway. It is sensitivity of a child or an adult towards the respiratory trigger. So what is a trigger? Trigger could be pollen, smoke, dust. So such children who are so called asthmatic are basically sensitive for slight change in the weather and environment. How frequent is this? It depends on the hereditary factors like whether parents, grandparents, or some close relative in the family is asthmatic or has allergic component in the respiratory system. Such children are more vulnerable to have developed or got it through hereditary. That are the symptoms the child may develop? A bad cough with wheezing, respiratory difficult, breathing problems and so on and so forth and that is usual by trigger, maybe weather change, maybe flu, some viral infections. So asthmatic children definitely require something called as inhaled medications. You just have heard about puffs. So that will be prescribed by the pediatrician after examining the child. So please understand asthma is not a disease and does not limit your child’s performance in anyways, does not restrict his growth and development as long as his asthma is taken care of , and necessary precautions are taken care of.
