aloha uke friends!

this was a popular question on my Patreon Q&A so i decided to make a video for it.

the key to cleaner, faster chord changes is finding the most efficient finger movement between chords. in this tutorial, i use 2 exercises to highlight the following skills that will help you build strength, flexibility, and control of the fingers.
- practicing finger isolation
- hovering the transition fingers
- stepping one finger at a time to the next chord
- learning to "flip" the fingers

this kind of fine motor control all depends on muscle memory, so go slow and practice 5 minutes a day. take the time to break down your finger movements, and your brain will be able to talk to your fingers more efficiently!

NEWBIE FAQS:
For beginner uke players, I recommend a concert (if you are a smaller person) or tenor (for bigger/taller people or former guitar players). Sopranos are often cheaper but can be more difficult to learn on since they're smaller.
BUDGET STARTER UKES under $100
Kohala concert: http://amzn.to/1CUXrk2 (if you spend less than this, the uke might sound like a toy)
Kohala tenor: http://amzn.to/1NsFvqa
Makai concert: http://amzn.to/1NsFOBx
Makai tenor: http://amzn.to/1KHRmQS
NICE STARTER UKES $100- $160
Makai tenor: http://amzn.to/1L5tCEY
Islander concert: http://amzn.to/1NsFIKa
Islander tenor: http://amzn.to/1L5tvZX

TUNER: Everyone should have a clip-on tuner - they work by vibration so they're more accurate than phone apps.
I like this one: Snark SN-2 http://amzn.to/1ST157e

DAILY UKULELE: If you're looking for a book of songs, the Daily Ukulele is a great resource for classic and traditional songs, including Beatles and jazz standards. Daily Ukulele http://amzn.to/1U2eg4l
