This is so good!

We don't always need to be in problem fixing mode with our kids. This is true for any relationship we have really.

But it's especially important true for our kids because they are trying to navigate these feelings and experiences for the first time, and they need to be able to have the full experience - not a portion of the experience that is cut off.

This is a really nice example of truely validating feelings that are tough. Your kid feels bad. That is true. Whatever happened before or will happen next does not change the experience they had.

Let them have it. Be with them for it. And when they've made it through to the other side, feel free to help them move foward. But they need these life reps, and they need to have you on their side as a supporter, not a bulldozing "fixer" of their feelings.
