Unknown Sony Ericsson Prototype | In Depth Review (2024)

This is an unknown Sony Ericsson Prototype that I acquired a while back. It seems to be very similar to the Sony Ericsson "Paris" Prototype phone which I reviewed a few years ago.
Its a touch screen slider phone that runs Symbian UIQ OS and has a unique looking keyboard and a solidly built stylus as well. This thing is an example of a late development prototype phone where all the hardware decisions have been made and final software testing is now being done.
This phone is still unpolished software wise as the Symbian OS it runs has loads of bugs and issues. This version of Symbian is Sony Ericsson's take on the OS in contrast to Nokia which was the largest user of Symbian.
The phone features a unique skin on top of the Symbian UIQ OS that is gold in color and matches well with the Burgundy color of the phone.
As compared to in this video, the Sony Ericsson G900 may have actually been the final product of this phone and for some reason they decided to go with the bar style instead of the slider phone form factor.
While making this video, a version of this phone with a super compressed qwerty keyboard appeared on eBay in the UK as well and I have seen this phone in pictures from China. Which makes it rare but not one of a kind.

It joins other Sony Ericsson Symbian Phones like the Satio, Aino and the Vivaz in being a handful of Sony Ericsson handsets to use Symbian.
As its an unreleased phone, its extremely rare and usually would go for high prices online. Rare phones like this are highly sought after collectors items and are getting rarer by the day.

I will also do a Using the Sony Ericsson Prototype in 2024 video or a Sony Ericsson Prototype 2024 or Sony Ericsson in 2024. In which i attempt to use this odd device for a week. Also, Symbian in 2024.
These are considered rare phones or collectible phones and I am keeping them in my phone collection since they are considered as a vintage phones or retro phones.
My collection also includes Nokia Prototypes, Blackberry Prototypes, Motorola Prototypes, Sony Ericsson prototypes, Sony Prototypes, HTC Prototypes, Rare Nokia and other rare developer devices! These phones are no Android 14 or Android 15 powerhouses and It also ain't no iPhone 15 Pro Max, Google Pixel 8, Google Pixel 8a, Lumia 950Xl, Lumia 1520, Lumia 1020, Google Pixel 8 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, Motorola Edge S or OnePlus 12 Pro but are definitely interesting phones on their own!
