Can you LEGALLY sell fan art on Etsy

There has been so much conversation about selling fan art especially on Etsy
Is it legal to sell fan art, and how can I legally sell fan art
so many other people sell fan art on Etsy like disney items, baby Yoda and all sorts of copyright images so it must be OK to sell that kind of stuff just so long as you have made it yourself
and of course will it get your Etsy account banned or suspended if you sell fan art on Etsy?
