Elevating Service Research: Reimagining Humanity Within the Earth Service System, presented by Ray Fisk

Synopsis:
This presentation conceives of Planet Earth as an evolved service system. Life evolved to serve life on Earth, which I refer to as the Earth Service System. The phrase "Earth Service System" encapsulates the essence of life’s interconnectedness and the interdependent, reciprocal relationships that sustain life on Earth. The Earth Service System concept provides a unifying framework for thinking about service at the planetary macro scale, and bridges ecological, social, and economic systems to promote the flourishing of life on Earth. Viewing life as a planetary service system challenges service researchers to examine how life forms provide service to one another, whether through direct interactions (e.g., symbiotic relationships) or indirectly through larger ecological processes.
