Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has made unparalleled sacrifices to turn the dark night of terrorism into the bright light of peace. The spirit of freedom, martyrdom, and bravery has been ingrained in the blood of the people and forces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for centuries. He reaffirmed the commitment that every officer and soldier of the force will continue to serve the country and nation, guided by the sacrifices of the martyrs, until their last drop of blood.

He expressed these views while addressing the 11th annual Police Martyrs' Day ceremony held in Peshawar today. The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, was the chief guest on this occasion.

The police chief said that August 4 holds special significance for us, as it is a day to pay tribute to those who gave eternal sacrifices for the country and nation, and to reiterate the commitment that we will never forget our martyrs.

The IGP said that against terrorists, every officer and soldier of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police and forces stood like a wall of steel, displaying immense courage and resolve. Despite countless sacrifices and difficult circumstances in the war against terrorism, the police never backed down, never left any duty point or post unattended, and fought the enemy bravely on every front.

He emphasized that there is no doubt the history of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police is filled with stories of valor and bravery. Paying tribute to the strength and resilience of the families of martyrs present at the ceremony, the IGP said, “You are our proud sisters, brothers, and children, whose loved ones' sacrifices have given everlasting honor to the entire nation.”

He assured the families of the martyrs that they are not alone — their loved ones have brought glory to the police department with their blood. “Your every sorrow is our sorrow, and we stand by you in every moment of need. The entire force is at your service. Our doors are always open for you,” he said. He also mentioned that the newly launched mobile applications are aimed at solving the issues of police martyrs' families promptly and effectively.

The IGP also saluted the courage and bravery of the wounded police officers ("police ghazis") who stood firm against terrorists and called them a valuable asset of the force.

He thanked the provincial government for its continued support despite financial challenges. He appreciated their efforts in meeting the operational needs of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police by providing modern weapons and vehicles to ensure peace and eliminate terrorism.

He noted that the police martyr package has been increased to 11 million rupees, and the recruitment quota for the families of martyrs has been increased from 5% to 12.5%.

The IGP concluded by stating that all institutions are united in the fight against terrorism, and once again affirmed the resolve that every officer and soldier of the police force will continue to fight until the complete elimination of terrorism, down to their last drop of blood.
