Hundreds of religious buildings in Gaza destroyed by Israel

Drone footage obtained by Al Jazeera which was published on Saturday showed how Israel destroyed the Grand Mosque in Khan Younis. Since the beginning of the war on Gaza, at least 610 mosques and three churches have been completely destroyed according to the Gaza Government Media Office.

The intentional targeting of religious buildings during wars is considered a war crime in international humanitarian law, unless the building is used for military purposes. Israel claims Palestinian fighters use the buildings to store weapons and ammunition or as a base of operations, which Hamas has denied.
