materialism doesn't bring happiness物欲不能带来幸福materialism supports in our pursuit of happiness but it itself is not happiness物质基础助力我们追寻幸福 但其本身并非幸福materialism and having all materialistic needs fulfilled does not make us happy拥有物质财富且所有物欲都得到满足 并不会让我们快乐materialistic needs fulfilled is a tool to achieve happiness then from there we can go on to spiritual practices物欲的满足是实现幸福的一种途径 由此我们方能进一步追寻精神修炼we can read deeper we can investigate into ourselves we can find ourselves我们可以深入阅读 内省探索 最终找到真正的自我materialistic goals fulfill is an aid to happiness but not happiness物质目标的达成是通往幸福的助力 而非幸福本身so we shouldn't work towards that and think about that alone因此我们不应只为此奋斗 也不应只思虑于此so when we think when we find pleasure in materialism means that's all we live for then our pleasure will end in pain所以当我们认为或发现自己的快乐仅源于物质时 便意味着我们为之而活的一切终将以痛苦告终why will it end in pain为何它终将以痛苦告终？because the people who will be attracted to you because you are wealthy or you are beautiful or you are perfect or you are rich or you had that yacht or you had the branded items因为那些因你的财富 美貌 完美形象 阔绰资产 豪华游艇或名牌物件而被你吸引的人the people who will be attracted to you and gravitate towards you are not gravitating for you那些被你吸引 向你靠近的人 并非为你本身而来and eventually you will realize that if you have not already and that's where the loneliness and the happiness and pain sets in and bitterness最终你会意识到 若此刻还未领悟 那便是孤独 失落 痛苦与辛酸滋生的开端because they're not there for you因为他们并非为你而来and if you are attracting people through this and just this如果你仅凭这些外在条件吸引他人talking about on social media Facebook and tweets and telling people where you go若你在社交媒体上 比如脸书和推特 不断展示行踪 炫耀生活you know you go to the gym you go on trips you bought this branded item you got this new car you got new all that比如你去健身 去旅行 买了名牌 换了新车 诸如此类的一切who do you think you'll attract你觉得你会吸引到什么样的人呢？who do you think you will nurture who do you think will be gravitating towards you你认为自己会培养出怎样的关系？又觉得哪些人会真正向你靠拢？people who have like minds but they're not there for you你吸引的是志趣相投之人 但他们并非为你而来so therefore when we find pleasure in materialism then our pleasure will end in pain因此 当我们从物质中寻求快乐时 这份快乐终将以痛苦告终that means whatever so called pleasure that we derive temporarily will end in pain这意味着 我们暂时获得的所谓快乐 终将归于痛苦because if for any reason we don't have those things anymore因为一旦因故失去那些东西then we don't have anything inside to attract nothing in us is there to attract我们内在便空无一物 再无吸引力了so if we had the wealth that's wonderful but we shouldn't stop there we have to develop the insight所以 拥有财富固然美好 但我们不应止步于此 必须培养内在的洞见
