Mondays at Mirai: Return of the Sun

In this episode of Mondays at Mirai, the long forgotten sun has returned to the Pacific Northwest, illuminating the garden as Kauffman and Troy tend to the landscape and Ryan assists with his students Mike and Eric repotting in the greenhouse.

Kauffman is out and about early this morning wielding large sheers trimming away the rapid-growing landscape grasses and lavender. With the power out for some electrical updates, everyone is either outside or in the greenhouse. Mike and Eric, both of whom have been Ryan's students for 11 years now, are visiting for some repotting assistance. With the power being out, the water has also been temporarily shut off allowing Ryan to water trees the old-fashioned way, with a copper tin watering can. On the repotting benches, Mike and Eric are engaged in a heavy repotting onto a stone, while Ryan works on a more routine maintenance repot of a John Naka juniper.

As the day continues on and the light and shadows of the garden shift, Ryan is greeted by a visiting architect to discuss future plans for the property. Since the damages to his home, Ryan is looking forward to new opportunities in the coming rebuild. The past year has introduced a key lesson, the future is full of uncertainty, but there is always room for aspirations and hope.
