In remembrance of the one year since the announcement of a national lockdown by the South African Government, the City Lockdown Diaries initiative is proud to release a video documenting the beginning stages of the project.

The City Lockdown Diaries is a 3-part series of publications that share the findings from the City Lockdown Diaries project, a research project formulated by researchers at the South African Research Chair in Spatial Analysis and City Planning (SA&CP) in the School of Architecture and Planning.

Whilst this is part one of two videos to be released, the project coordinators wish to give insight into the gathering of the data from the 25 participants and how this was condensed into a free research paper that was written by Dr. Miriam Maina and Sarita Pillay, who also conducted the research.

The video also explores the use of art, as created by Kagiso Diale, to interpret the findings in a meaningful way.
