Drawing on Grey Toned Paper

Описание к видео Drawing on Grey Toned Paper

Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!

Drawing on toned paper can be challenging when you're used working on a white background.
-Value: toned paper typically has a mid-tone value, which can make it tricky to create strong contrasts between light and dark areas in your drawing.
-Color: the tone of the paper affects how colors appear when applied on top of it. This can require adjustments in color choice 9and medium choice).
-Highlights: creating highlights and white areas can be challenging since the paper isn't pure white. White pencils, Posca markers, gouache or other opaque media can be great for highlights on toned paper.

Despite these challenges, drawing on toned paper can be exciting! You'll have different approaches for your expression, creating mood, atmosphere, and depth in your drawings.
With practice and experimentation, you can benefit from the toned background and make fun drawings.

Today I am drawing in my Hahnemühle grey toned sketchbook.
Stepping out of my comfort zone, I share how important it is to embrace new experiences to grow creatively.
Remember, it's just a drawing—so even if things don't go as planned, like you will see during the recorded process, there's no harm done. It might actually add to the liveliness of your drawing.

Materials used in this video:
Hahnemühle The Grey Book, size A5
Pilot Pintor B paint marker
Caran d'Ache Neocolor I crayons
Caran d'Ache Luminance colored pencil
Uni Posca marker
Faber-Castell pencil sharpener
(shown, not used: Pentel Pocket Brushpen)
